the way of web design endeavours. My brother first taught me the beginnings
of HTML by opening up
Notepad in Windows and typing:

Seriously, that was my first webpage ever (or something to that effect). It was a white page with black lettering in the Times New Roman (default) font that said, "This is my first webpage!" in the top left corner of the screen.
For years, I created websites for the text-based games I played and staffed on (MUSHes and MUXes) and then finally decided to get serious about web design. After about three different attempts to get into a proper web design or multimedia program, I finally lucked out with Mohawk College and managed to complete a Web Master's certification as of December 2008. Along with this certification, I also qualified for specializations in web scripting and web graphics (emphasis on the graphics end of things).
It's only after I got certified that people started to really look at me as someone who kind of knew what she was doing -- I can only hope I haven't let those people down so far. ;)
Why zombies? I sometimes get asked. Well, I'm a geek-girl by nature and I love all things sci-fi, fantasy and horror, as a general rule (some exceptions) and I have to say that the more modern renditions of the traditional zombie movies are my favourites. Dawn of the Dead, Land of the Dead, 28 Days/Weeks Later, etc., are all a lot of fun, not to mention Shaun of the Dead, which was an absolute riot. I love vampires too, but I figured zombies were a better image, shuffling along through code (for example) than something that sucks. *grins*
